Ngorongoro Crater
Sanctuary Ngorongoro Crater Camp is located in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area within the Ngorongoro Crater rim valley. The camp is located very close to the crater floor access road allowing for quick and easy access to the crater floor - perfect for early morning crater safaris.
The crater, which formed when a large volcano exploded and collapsed on itself 2 to 3 million years ago, is 610 metres deep and its floor covers 260 square kilometres.
Supported by a year round supply of water and food, the crater is densely populated with wildlife and is home to about 30,000 animals including zebra, buffalo, warthog, wildebeest, hippo and elephants, and an amazing population of predators - lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs and the elusive leopard.
The main common areas of the camp include a dining area where scumptious buffet-style meals are served, while the lounge area is perfect for afternoon relaxation and the lounge bar where pre-dinner drinks are served. All the main areas including breathtaking views of the spectacular surrounding scenery and large trees surrounding this intimate camp.
For a more intimate experience guests can choose to dine on individual tables set in special spots around the camp.
The camp offers 10 luxury safari room tents - each with its own en-suite bathroom and indoor bucket shower, with a personal tent attendant filling your bucket shower to the perfect temperature whenever required from the outside. There is also a small sitting area in front of each tent where early morning coffee and biscuits can be enjoyed before starting your day of incredible game viewing.
Most guests choose to enjoy an early breakfast at the camp before heading down into the crater for a full day game drive, indulging in a scrumptious packed lunch midway through the day at a scenic spot on the crater floor.
Cultural visits to a nearby Masai village can also be arranged.

Children Policy
Children aged 6 years and older are welcome. Children aged 15 years and younger are required to share with an adult due to safety reasons.

General Information For Guests
All the tents feature hairdryers, plug points, mosquito nets and in-room safes. There is a small sitting area in from of each tent. The en-suite bathroom has an indoor bucket shower. Complimentary mosquito repellent is also offered.
Sanctuary Ngorongoro Crater Camp consists of 3 large communal tents that provide a dining area, lounge and a bar where pre-dinner drinks are served. All the main areas have views of the spectacular scenery surrounding the camp.
Electricity supply is a combination of silent packed generator and inverter battery system.
Complimentary Wi-Fi is available in the main area.
Activities available include morning and afternoon game drives. Guests can also enjoy cultural activities in a nearby Masai village.

The camp is situated on the rim of the crater in close proximity to the access road leading down onto the crater floor. A typical day on safari here will be as follows:
05:30 - Wake up call
06:00 - Breakfast at camp
06:30 - Depart for game drive into the crater
12:00 - Picnic lunch on the crater floor
20:30 - Dinner
Any extras can be paid for with US Dollars, Sterling and Euros however change will be given in local currency. Please note that there are NO credit card facilities in the camp.
Due to Tanzania's proximity to the equator the climate is characterised by warm days and cool evenings. However due to the altitude of the crater it is quite cold and guests are advised to pack warm clothes when visiting this camp such as long trousers and a fleece.
