Mbali Mbali Mahale

Mahale Mountains National Park

Mbali Mbali Mahale Location Map

Mbali Mbali Mahale sits on a stretch of sheltered golden beach, deep in the heart of the African interior in the Mahale Mountains National Park. Boasting a backdrop formed by the dramatic Mahale Mountain range, and the crystal clear waters of Lake Tanganyika in the foreground, this secluded and romantic hideaway is the perfect blend of relaxation and luxury.

Mahale is a pristine, natural experience open to those willing to walk its trails. The birds, primates, monkeys, small predators and butterflies all offer signs of life and there is little that beats an amble through the forest.

The primary activity in the Park is chimpanzee tracking, carefully monitored so as to reduce human impact on the habituated chimps. In between trekking to find the playful primates, you can take a gentle boat safari on the lake, or opt for a fishing excursion, where you may encounter crocodile, hippo and otter as well as an abundance of birdlife.

Kayaks are available for exploring the lake at your leisure, or you may choose to simply stretch out under one of the salas on the beach, while the gentle lapping of the lake lulls you into an afternoon siesta.

In the evening there is nothing better than sitting around the campfire with your fellow guests, sharing stories of the day's adventures with the vast Milky Way stretching across the night sky.

The 9 Beach Tents have been strategically placed at the edge of the cooling forest canopy. Each Beach Tent is on a raised platform under thatch, and has a private deck providing views of Lake Tanganyika and the beach. All are within easy walking distance along the beach to the main lounge and dining areas.
