Okavango Delta
Mapula Lodge is situated in a private concession in the North Eastern area of the Okavango Delta, just outside the Moremi Game Reserve. As the land is privately owned, the lodge can offer guests a full spectrum of activities.
The main lodge area has sweeping decks which overlook a permanent lagoon, which is home to a pod of hippopotamus who frequently delight guests with their appearances from the water. There is a comfortable lounge, the dining area and a bar area - all which offer stunning views of the Okavango Delta. There is also a small library and a swimming pool.
Game viewing is particularly good in this area, and the trees around the lodge are home to a huge variety of birds.
Being in a permanent water area, Mapula Lodge offers year round water activities, which is especially important during January - May when water levels in the Okavango can become too low in most areas to allow the use of the traditional mokoro.
Guests can enjoy walking safaris with experienced guides and trackers, or game drives depart early morning and late afternoon, returning after dark with the aid of a spotlight in search of the elusive nocturnal animals. Safaris can also be enjoyed in a motorised boat as well as the traditional mokoro.
Each of the 10 luxury chalets has a traditional design and use of natural log provide unique detail. The attention to detail and use of local craftsmanship in the construction of the chalets is particularly impressive and attractive.
The chalets all boast a small lounge and a full bathroom (with bathtub and outside shower), as well as a large outside veranda, offering fantastic views over the lagoon.
