Mpumalanga
A destination of outstanding scenic beauty and history, Nkomazi Game Reserve, known as the 'place of water' is situated near to the picturesque town of Barberton, in the malaria-free escarpment of Mpumalanga, and is just a 3 hour drive from Johannesburg.
The reserve is 15,000 hectares, and offers unique safari-based activities including guided drives, guided walks and bird-watching. Fly-fishing, star gazing and rock art viewing can also be arranged.
Watch the sun rise over the North Eastern boundaries of the reserve during a morning game drive or take in the spectacular view from lookout points among the rocky granite sentinels in the highlands of the reserve.
Waterfalls and rock pools are impressive, while rolling grasslands support large herds of free-roaming wildlife, making Nkomazi a game-viewing haven.
The lodge offers Deluxe and Luxury safari tents, all positioned to blend into the landscape. Each tent is linked by decked walkways and man-made paths through the bush. There are also 2 Family Tents. Each tent has a ceiling fan, tea and coffee making facilities, and an indoor shower and outdoor bath, as well as a private expansive sun deck with a private plunge pool.
The main lodge area also features a gift boutique, an outdoor boma dining area and a lounge tent with a viewing deck.

Directions For Drivers
From Johannesburg: Take the N4 towards Witbank, turn right into Machadodorp and take the Badplaas turnoff. You will arrive at a T-junction (left to Barberton and right to Badplaas) - turn right towards Badplaas on the R38.
Turn left into the R541 to Lochiel and continue along for 13.8km. Turn left towards Tjakastad and continue along the road for approximately 7km. The entrance will be on your left hand side.
From Nelspruit: Head South along the R40 towards Barberton, before you arrin in the town of Barberton turn right towards Badplaas onto the R38. Just before you arrive in Badplaas turn left into the R541 to Lochiel and continue along for 13.8km. Turn left towards Tjakastad and continute along the road for 7km. The entrance will be on your left hand side.
