The Serengeti
Ideally located close to the famous Mara River, set amidst the whispering grasslands of the Northern Serengeti is Karibu Serengeti River Camp. The camp offers quick access to viewing the spectacular drama of the wildebeest river crossings during the long dry season months of July through to October.
All year long the Mara River attracts numerous resident wildlife big and small such as large herds of elephant, eland and cape buffalo. Antelopes of many kinds also enjoy the higher elevation, cooler temperatures, and excellent grazing. Lions, leopards and cheetah maintain their territories throughout the year. River Camp therefore remains popular even during the green season (November through June) for guests who want to be away from the crowds but still experience resident wildlife and great cat activity.
All meals are carefully crafted by an experienced chef and served by the delightful staff in the dining tent. Picnic lunches are provided daily to make the most of your game drives or guests can return to the camp for a hot lunch at no extra cost. Special dietary considerations can be met with advanced notice at time of booking.
The bar and lounge area provide a relaxing atmosphere and overlook the savanna plains.
Karibu River Camp features 15 canvas tents including a family tent and one triple tent with 3 single beds.
Each tent has its own private en-suite bathroom that includes a separate hot shower area elevated on teak wood flooring, an enclosed private flush toilet and a dressing area. Each tent is furnished with a comfortable sitting area complete with a hand-carved solid wood coffee table, cosy upholstered side chairs and a small writing desk for journaling about the day’s events, and outside deck chairs provide a perfect setting for reading or just relaxing and enjoying the scenery.
The family tent has 2 separate bedrooms and a shared bathroom.
