Central Kalahari
Grassland Bushman Lodge is a family owned lodge, situated on the western side of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, on a 15,000 hectare private wildlife reserve.
At Grassland Bushman Lodge the focus is truly on activities. There is a very comprehensive San (Bushmen) experience, where guests can interact with families and learn more about how they live their daily lives, or day and night game drives can be enjoyed with an experienced ranger and tracker, in search of wildlife.
For a truly unique experience, guests can visit the predator rehabilitation centre where they have the opportunity of walking with semi-habituated Cape hunting dogs, or go out onto the plains on horseback, and get really close to the wildlife.
The main guest area of the lodge boasts a large lounge and dining room, and a huge covered bar area that also doubles up as an outside lounge, and which is adjacent to the swimming pool.
All overlook a waterhole where a huge variety of wildlife can be seen from the comfort of chairs or from the pool area. A spectacular scene is when the sand grouse come down to the waterhole in their thousands to collect the water in their feathers and take it back to their nests.
The hospitality at the lodge can best be described as a real home away from home, and a genuine ease prevails. Most of the staff are made up of San people, who have worked alongside the De Graff family for generations.
The lodge can accommodate up to 16 guests, plus there is one family unit too. Accommodation is in comfortable en-suite chalets. Electricity is provided during most parts of the day by means of a generator.
