The Desert Homestead Lodge lies 30 km southeast of Sesriem, the entrance to the Namib-Naukluft National Park and home of the famous Sossusvlei sand dunes.
The wide grassy valley in which the lodge is situated is sheltered by the Nubib, Tsaris and Naukluft Mountains with views reaching the distant dunes of the Namib Desert in the west.
Due to its location, the lodge is the perfect starting point for tours to the Namib-Naukluft National Park, Sossusvlei and the Sesriem Canyon.
In addition, it is also well known for its horse riding safaris through the desert, which are suitable for experienced riders as well as beginners. These guided rides are offered twice a day in the early morning and close to sunset.
In this exquisite location, the lodge offers simple but stylish accommodation in thatched chalets. The 20 thatched en-suite chalets are all luxuriously decorated in pale linens, each with their own verandah under a canopy with views extending to the Rotterkaum Mountains.

Directions For Drivers
From Windhoek: Leave Windhoek along the B1 to Rehoboth. Shortly behind Rehoboth turn right onto the C24 and drive for about 174km, via the Remhoogte Pass (drive here VERY SLOWLY), to the T-Junction with the C14. Turn left onto the C14 and continue for 77 km until Büllsport. Turn right here onto the D854 and after 71 km you will reach the T-Junction with the C19. Here turn right and after about 3 km you will find the Desert Homestead on your left hand side.
General Information For Guests
The rooms have en-suite separate bathrooms, private shaded sun decks, air conditioning (solar powered so limited period of use) and mosquito nets.
The main area consists of the restaurant and bar, reception, curio shop, viewing deck, and 2 swimming pools with sun decks and shaded areas. There are shaded parking places as well.
Free Wi-Fi is available in the restaurant area. There is mobile/cell phone connectivity.
Activities that are available include trips to Sossusvlei, guided horse trail rides (early morning and sunset), hot air balloon rides and game drives (additional cost).
