Sossusvlei and the Namib Desert
Desert Camp is less than 6 km from the entrance to the Namib Naukluft Park, home to the famous Sossusvlei and some of the highest dunes in the world. The camp itself nestles under century-old camel thorn trees, and has a 360 degree view over the surrounding desert landscape and mountains, meaning the impressive dunes of the Namib Desert are never far away.
Desert Camp's affordable accommodation comprises of 20 units, each with an en-suite bathroom, twin beds, a shaded verandah and a kitchenette, plus a BBQ facility. Tasteful interior decorating reflects the hues of the Namib Desert.
Although the accommodation is mainly on a self-catering basis, guests can order food packs, which generally comprises of a selection of meat, vegetables, salads, bread, condiments, cheese and beverages. For those guests who don't want to cook for themselves every night, however, evening dinners can be booked at the neighbouring Sossusvlei Lodge (5 km away) to experience an unforgettable buffet al-fresco under the stars on the terrace.
