Barra Lodge is set in one of the most picturesque areas in Mozambique, with spectacular views of pristine beaches and the crystal clear waters of the Indian Ocean.
Barra has secluded, unspoilt beaches, and is bordered by the Inhambane estuary on one side and the sea on the other. The lodge is nestled amongst groves of coconut trees and the warm Indian Ocean offers safe bathing all year round. Wide open, sun-drenched beaches offer endless hours of strolling pleasure.
Barra Lodge caters for families with children and is geared towards fun and activities for the whole family.
There is a fully equipped PADI dive centre at the lodge, which offers a range of diving courses and dives.
Other activities include day trips on a luxury 33 foot catamaran, snorkelling trips, Ocean Safari trips (where guests can see whale sharks and dolphins), game fishing expeditions, dhow trips, quad biking, hobie-cat and laser dingy sailing. snake rides, paddle skis, surfboarding and boogie boarding, horse-riding on the beach, and sight-seeing trips to the nearby historic town of Inhambane.
The traditional en-suite casitas are made of thatch, brick and reeds, creating a charming atmosphere. Some have sea views and all are a stone's throw from the beach. The family en-suite casitas have 1 double bed and 2 single beds.
The beach bar at the lodge is a very popular meeting point. Situated right on the main beach, guests gather in the evenings to watch the beautiful sunsets, participate in beach volley ball, pub games or simply sip and enjoy their favourite drink. Every Wednesday and Saturday evening Barra Lodge also boasts a sumptuous buffet dinner served in the beach bar while guests enjoy live Mozambican entertainment.
The restaurant food is dominated by the fresh seafood caught locally, including prawns, calamari and fresh line fish. Guests can enjoy dining indoors or outdoors on the patio overlooking the pool.
