Simbambili Game Lodge

Sabi Sand Game Reserve: 3 Nights

Simbambili Game Lodge is situated in the northern section of the exclusive Sabi Sand Game Reserve. The lodge is set in magnificent trees along the meandering Manyeleti River with views over extensive savanna grassland that teems with wildlife.

The day starts as dawn breaks over the African bushveld.  Depart in an open Land Cruiser with experienced rangers and trackers who will share their extensive knowledge of the bush with you. Each game viewing vehicle seats 6 people only. After a delicious breakfast is served either at camp or in the bush, guest will have the opportunity to go on a bush walk. Accompanied by an armed ranger and tracker, bush walks offer guests a better chance to see some of the smaller creatures that often go unseen as well as an opportunity to learn more about the flora and fauna of the region, and to follow tracks in more detail. The afternoon game drive is preceded by high tea and extends into the evening to view seldom seen nocturnal species by torchlight. Your ranger and tracker team will astound you with their ability to track big game, on foot or on an open vehicle safari. Guests are encouraged to enjoy the extraordinary and unique wildlife of Africa, whether it is to linger at a close encounter with lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo or to be amazed by the extensive array of birds.

Nestled inconspicuously among dense stands of knobthorn and jackalberry trees lie 7 individually hand crafted suites sensitively designed to blend with the environment and carefully positioned to enhance privacy.  Sophisticated yet simple, each suite has spectacular views over the dry riverbed as well as the Sabi bushveld and its incredibly diverse bird and animal life from the en-suite bathroom and private viewing deck. Another feature of the deck, apart from the wonderful views, is a private plunge pool to soothe away hot summer afternoons and a private sala for daydreaming and resting in the heat of the day.

The Honeymoon Suite is positioned to afford guests utter privacy, and also offers an indoor lounge area in addition to a private plunge pool and daybed. There is also one superior Waterhole Suite, which has its own private lounge area offering extensive views of the waterhole.

Guests at Simbambili Game Lodge also can use the spa, offering the latest beauty treatments and the added novelty of massages with a view over the rolling plains.

Important Travel Information For South Africa

Passport, Visa and Entry Requirements

CURRENT ENTRY RULES IN RESPONSE TO CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) - Updated 01 October 2020: International borders into South Africa reopened on 01 October 2020. Tourists are NOT permitted from countries that are deemed high risk and currently the UK, USA, France, Ireland, Brazil and Netherlands are among the 60 countries deemed as high risk. The list is being updated every 2 weeks.

On arrival, travellers allowed to enter will need to present a negative COVID-19 test result not older than 72 hours from time of departure. All travellers will be screened on arrival and those presenting with symptoms will be required to have a COVID-19 test. Where necessary, travellers will need to enter mandatory quarantine facilities at their own cost. Travellers will also be asked to download the COVID Alert South Africa Mobile App. HOWEVER: For those tourists on the current 'not permitted list' - if you are travelling from a low-risk country and your passport indicates that you have spent 10 days or more in a low-risk country before departure, then you will be considered to be arriving from a low-risk country and allowed to enter South Africa.

It is expected that these rules will be lifted and that the entry requirements will revert to normal as soon as the government of South Africa deems it safe to do so.

Normally, holders of the following passports do not require a visa to enter South Africa when travelling as a tourist for stays up to 90 days: United Kingdom; United States of America; Canada; Australia; Ireland; Belgium; Netherlands; Italy; France; Germany; Spain, Switzerland.

If you are a passport holder from another country, please contact your local South Africa High Commission or Embassy for up-to-date visa requirements, as citizens of certain countries (including New Zealand) are required to obtain visas before travelling. Please note that if you are applying to the Embassy for your visa, some visas can take a long time to be processed so please do take this into consideration, as it is your responsibility to ensure you have the correct visa in place before you travel.

Please note that anyone travelling to South Africa should have a valid return ticket and a valid passport. Your passport should be valid for a minimum period of 30 days from the date of exit from South Africa. However, some immigration officials still request that a passport should have at least 6 months validity from the date of entry to South Africa so to avoid problems on arrival, we advise that your passport meets this requirement instead. The passport must also have sufficient pages for entry/exit stamps - AT LEAST 2 BLANK PAGES.

TRAVELLING TO/FROM SOUTH AFRICA WITH CHILDREN YOUNGER THAN 18 YEARS OF AGE AT DATE OF TRAVEL: It has been recently announced that the immigration laws for children travelling to South Africa who do NOT require a visa are to be relaxed, however not all airlines have updated their systems at the moment to reflect this amendment. Therefore, until we have received notification that all systems have been fully updated with the new relaxed rules, we are strongly advising that all passengers still adher to these following guidelines:

Parents travelling with children must produce an unabridged birth certificate for the child, showing full details of the child's parents. If the birth certificate is in a language other than English, it must be accompanied by a sworn translation issued by a competent authority in the country concerned.

If the child is adopted, the adoption certificate must be produced.

If only one parent is travelling, said parent must also show consent in the form of an affidavit from the other parent named on the birth certificate authorising the child to travel (the affidavit must be no more than 3 months old from the date of travel - a blank Parental Consent Affidavit can be downloaded from http://southafricahouseuk.com/documents/parentconaff.pdf), or a court order granting full parental responsibilities to the travelling parent, or (where applicable) a death certificate for the deceased parent. Legally separated parents should also provide a court order when the other parent does not give consent.

Where a person is travelling with a child who is not their biological child, he/she must produce an unabridged birth certificate for the child supplemented by affidavits from the child's parents/legal guardian giving consent for the child to travel and copies of the identity documents or passport of the parents/legal guardian PLUS their contact details.

There are also additional rules for unaccompanied minors - available on request.

PLEASE NOTE: All documents must be original - PHOTOCOPIES ARE NOT ACCEPTED. In the case of foreign countries that do not issue unabridged birth certificates, a letter to this effect issued by the competent authority of the foreign country should be produced. For more information, contact the South African High Commission via http://southafricahouseuk.com/ or the South African Department of Home Affairs via http://www.dha.gov.za/.

PLEASE NOTE: Countries can change their entry requirements at any time. Travel Butlers try to ensure that the information displayed here is correct, but the onus remains with the traveller to verify the information with the relevant High Commission or Embassy and ensure that they can comply with the applicable entry requirements.

Medical

You are advised to contact your doctor or clinic around 4-8 weeks before your trip to check whether you need any vaccinations and to get their professional medical advice regarding travel to South Africa.

To help avoid heatstroke, drink plenty of bottled water/fluids, and keep out of the midday sun.

Tap water is purified and safe to drink in major cities and towns, however, we do advise that you do not drink the water in more remote places such as the camps in the National Parks - the water may be safe to drink, but it simply is not worth the risk, as bottled water is widely available.

Whatever you do, do not drink water from any river lake without firstly purifying the water. Always take water with you when you go on a hike, and have a bottle in the car on a long journey to avoid dehydration.

There is a risk of malaria in and around the Kruger National Park/Mpumalanga Province, the Limpopo (Northern) Province, and the north-eastern part of KwaZulu-Natal - check with your doctor about suitable antimalarial tablets. Try to avoid mosquito bites wherever possible - wear loose long-sleeved clothing and trousers, and use a repellent on clothing and exposed skin.

There is no risk of yellow fever in South Africa, so a yellow fever vaccination is NOT required for travellers whose sole destination is South Africa. However, in accordance with International Health Reguations, South Africa requires all travellers over one year of age arriving from a yellow fever risk country, or having been in transit longer than 12 hours at the airport of such a country, to have a yellow fever certificate. These countries include Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda but it is up to the traveller to check the full list via http://www.who.int/ith/2015-ith-annex1.pdf?ua=1.

If you need emergency medical assistance during your trip, dial 10177 and ask for an ambulance.

Languages And Culture

The 11 official languages are Zulu, Xhosa, Afrikaans, Pedi, English, Tswana, Sotho, Tsonga, Swati, Venda and Ndebele. Whilst many visitors will hear at least a couple of the tribal languages during the course of their stay, it is possible to travel extensively and comfortably with just English as a language.

The South African society is quite liberal, as gay marriage was legalised in 2006 nationwide and everyone’s rights are protected under the constitution. In some more rural areas, however, the local people may not be quite as liberal thinking, so whilst everyone is of course entitled to their own sexual preferences and gender identity, we would advise all clients of the LGBT+ community to refrain from public displays of affection (including kissing and holding hands) and to be as discrete as possible about their relationship if travelling to a rural/remote area.

Important Travel Information For Seychelles

Passport, Visa and Entry Requirements

CURRENT ENTRY RULES IN RESPONSE TO CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) - Updated 01 October 2020: From 01 August, only visitors who travel from countries deemed to be a low or medium COVID-19 risk will be permitted entry to Seychelles. A list of approved countries can be viewed at the Seychelles Ministry of Health website here: http://tourism.gov.sc/covid-19-guidelines/ - this list may be updated at any time and without warning. If you are eligible for entry to Seychelles, you must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test performed within 72 hours prior to boarding your flight.

IN ADDITION: From 01 October a Visitor Travel Advisory will allow 7 countries with Special Status (UK, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Austria and UAE) to travel but with more stringent sanitary measures:

  • A PCR test for COVID-19 must be done no more than 48 hours prior to departure from the country of origin.
  • After arrival into Seychelles, the visitor must stay in a designated establishment and may not leave the premises for 5 days.
  • A repeat PCR test will be performed on the 5th day. If the test result is negative, the visitor will be free to continue with his planned holiday. If the test resultis positive, the visitor will be required to stay in a designated stay-safe hotel until cleared by the Public Health Authority.

ALL PASSENGERS will be temperature checked at all ports of arrival. If symptoms of COVID-19 are found to be present, tests will be conducted. Those found to be positive will be quarantined and re-checked.

EVERYBODY must also apply for a Seychelles Health Travel Authorisation (HTA) in advance of travel (no more than 72 hours pre-departure from country of origin) - you can apply from your mobile phone via Android or iOS apps or on the web https://seychelles.govtas.com. A 45 Euro fee will be charged per application (subject to change). After submitting the application, the traveller will receive automatic emails confirming receipt of application and payment. Travellers will then receive a clear response on their eligibility to travel in the form of a secure barcode, also available as a wallet pass, which they can present at check in and boarding. Without this HTA a traveller will NOT be allowed to board a plane to the destination. Each individual is required to apply separately for an HTA. For children under 18 years of age, the legal guardian, parent or accompanying adult is responsible for completing the application.

All passengers must also provide proof of accommodation in an approved establishment for the duration of their stay when entering Seychelles.

It is expected that these rules will be lifted and that the entry requirements will revert to normal as soon as the government of Seychelles deems it safe to do so.

Normally, irrespective of the nationality of the visitor and his or her family members (with some exceptions* - see below), there are NO VISA requirements to enter Seychelles. However, the following documents must be shown in order to obtain immigration clearance at the Seychelles International Airport:

A passport valid on the date of entry to and exit from Seychelles

Return or onward ticket

Proof of accommodation; including contact details

Sufficient funds for the duration of the stay

Presentation of all of the above documents will grant you a Visitor’s Permit that will be issued upon arrival by the Seychelles Department of Immigration. The Visitor’s Permit is initially valid for the period of visit of up to one month.

Your passport should be valid for a minimum period of 6 months from the date of entry into Seychelles and have sufficient blank pages for the Seychelles entry/exit stamps (at least 2).

* If you are a passport holder from certain African countries, please contact your local Seychelles High Commission or Embassy for up-to-date visa requirements, as nationals from certain countries are required to obtain temporary visas before travelling to Seychelles.

Please note that if you are applying to the Embassy for your visa, some visas can take a long time to be processed so please do take this into consideration, as it is your responsibility to ensure you have the correct visa in place before you travel.

PLEASE NOTE: Countries can change their entry requirements at any time. Travel Butlers try to ensure that the information displayed here is correct, but the onus remains with the traveller to verify the information with the relevant High Commission or Embassy and ensure that they can comply with the applicable entry requirements.

To help avoid heatstroke, drink plenty of bottled water/fluids, and keep out of the midday sun.

Tap water meets W.H.O. (World Health Organization) specifications and is safe to drink nationwide. Because tap water is chlorinated, however, visitors are advised to drink bottled water but there is no imperative to avoid soft drinks, alcoholic drinks and ice. If you are in any way concerned about drinking water, bottled water is widely available in shops, restaurants and hotel bars.

There is NO risk of contracting malaria in Seychelles, as the anopheles mosquito does not exist in Seychelles. However, some cases of dengue fever transmitted by mosquitoes have been reported. Try to avoid mosquito bites wherever possible - wear loose long-sleeved clothing and trousers, and use a repellent on clothing and exposed skin.

There is no risk of yellow fever in Seychelles, so a yellow fever vaccination is NOT required for travellers whose sole destination is Seychelles. Languages And Culture

There are 3 official languages in Seychelles: Creole (a lilting, French-based patois), English and French. Many Seychellois also speak fluent Italian or German.

We would ask that all travellers are respectful of the local culture as follows:

Topless sunbathing is uncommon and not tolerated on some beaches. Nudism is not acceptable.

Homosexuality is not illegal in Seychelles. However, local attitudes do and can vary, so whilst everyone is of course entitled to their own sexual preferences and gender identity, we would advise all clients of the LGBT+ community to refrain from public displays of affection (including kissing and holding hands) and to be as discrete as possible about their relationship.

Please resist the urge to collect seashells along the beaches as many are used as habitation by hermit crabs.  Collecting shells is prohibited in nature reserves, marine parks and reserves in Seychelles.  The unique and unusual tropical flora is beautiful and for it to remain so, it is important that you admire it, but leave it for others to enjoy.

Be considerate towards the fauna and sensitive to its sometimes fragile nature.  Please walk carefully on the reefs and do not feed sea birds, mammals, turtles or tortoises or disturb them or their nesting grounds.
