Holiday Title: Family Fun and Adventures
Passengers: 2 Adults and 2 Children
Arrive into Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta Airport.
You will be met once you disembark from the plane and assisted through Immigration (including help if required with visa application and processing), luggage collection and Customs (luggage screening). You will then be accompanied to meet up with your driver.
After introductions and a safari briefing, you will be driven down to the Masai Mara (allow about 5-6 hours) in your private safari minibus. The vehicle has sliding windows, a roof hatch and high ground clearance, giving you great visibility for game viewing and photography.
Situated in the heart of the Masai Mara Game Reserve, guests can experience unparalleled safari adventures during their stay here. Venture across the vast open plains for thrilling morning and afternoon game drives in search of some of Africa's most spectacular wildlife. At other times the lodge's attractive pool or terrace provides the ideal place to unwind. A short stroll along a wooden platform takes you to the Hippo Bar where you can watch hippos wallowing in their pool whilst you enjoy a relaxing drink. Alternatively, follow the path through the trees to the Elephant Deck - a wonderful place to quietly sit and watch out for the wildlife.
Today, you will depart on 2 game drives - one in the morning and one in the afternoon - in the company of your expert driver-guide. Resident prides of lion, cheetahs, leopard, spotted and striped hyena, and smaller predators including 3 types of jackal roam the Mara area, as do elephant, buffalo and the shyer rhino, antelopes, giraffe and warthog. Hippo and crocodiles abound in the Mara and Talek rivers.
Enjoy a early morning game drive returning back to the lodge for breakfast. Enjoy the rest of the morning at leisure relaxing on your private patio or at the pool. After lunch head out on a afternoon game drive returning back to camp in the evening in time for dinner. Alternatively enjoy another full day of game viewing in the Mara National Reserve including a picnic lunch.
After breakfast you will be driven back to Nairobi, and your driver-guide will drop you at the airport, in time for you to check in for your domestic flight across to the coast.
Kenya Airways KQ608 (Economy Class): Fly from Jomo Kenyatta International (NBO) departing at 15:30 to Mombasa Moi Intl (MBA), arriving at 16:30
Arrive at Mombasa Airport and collect your luggage. You will be met by your driver holding signboard with your name on it and will be transferred to your beach hotel.
Voyager Beach Resort, situated just 10 km north of Mombasa, overlooks the white sands of Nyali Beach and offers a watersports centre, glass bottom boat rides over magical coral reefs, 4 bars and 3 swimming pools - there is something for everyone at this nautical themed beach resort.
The Kenyan Coast
You will need to check out of your room this morning but you can remain at the hotel and use all the facilities until you are collected for your transfer back to the airport. Alternatively, if you have an evening flight, the hotel may be able to arrange a late check out for you (additional cost and payable directly to the hotel) subject to the availability of the room.
Situated in Kenya's Masai Mara Reserve, Keekorok Lodge was the first of its kind to be built in the reserve. It offers the highest standard of comfort and luxury, yet still retains its intrinsic 40 years and more of history, tradition, character and charm.
There's always plenty of activity around the waterhole and surrounding plains, but this is especially true during the Great Migration, as the lodge is strategically located in the direct path of the migrating herds. This spectacular event of nature brings thousands of wildebeest, zebra, other plains game and their predators into the area each year between July and October.
The lodge has an outdoor swimming pool, the 'Eseriani Spa' providing a range of professional health and beauty treatments, a restaurant serving international and local cuisine, 3 bars, cafe and television lounge. All meals are buffet style with a huge choice of freshly prepared options. Complimentary tea and coffee is served on the terrace throughout the day.
A short stroll along the wooden platform takes you to the Hippo Bar for the unique experience of observing hippos wallong in their pool. Alternatively follow the path through the trees to the Elephant Deck for a wonderful place to observe the surrounding wildlife.
Early morning and evening game drives can be arranged, but there is no better way to see the animals and countryside than to drift over the plains in a hot air balloon at dawn, culminating in a champagne breakfast. Other activities include bird watching walks, masai dancing and wildlife lectures (additional cost).
Keekorok Lodge offers 101 rooms and suites in total. The accommodation is set out in single storey blocks and shaded chalets, all of which have been constructed using indigenous materials such as cedar wood and pink and grey sandstone - the colours look truly stunning against the ground's well-kept lawns. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms and an outside seating area with calming views either of the pool, the gardens or the Mara plains.

Voyager Beach Resort is one of Kenya's most popular beach resorts, overlooking the sparkling white soft sands of Nyali Beach just 7 km from Mombasa.
Inspired by the area's rich nautical past, the resort is fashioned along the lines of a luxury cruise ship. It is a hive of activity, hosting daily entertainment programmes, including unique themed 'journeys' across the Seven Seas, culinary extravaganzas, and special music, fashion, comedy and acrobatic shows.
Guests also have easy access to a huge variety of historical, sporting and cultural attractions, including Africa's largest crocodile farm and the world-famous Haller Park (formerly Bamburi Nature Trail).
The warm tropical waters of the Indian Ocean are home to a stunning array of coral gardens and a rich diversity of coral fish in every size, colour and shape imaginable. The Dive Centre has qualified instructors to accompany you on the most fascinating diving sites along the coast. Closer to shore is the Mombasa Marine Park where you can snorkel in the company of the beautiful coral fish or simply watch them through the glass bottom boat.
Other watersports include windsurfing, canoeing and sailboats.
Voyager Beach Resort offers 236 bright and comfortable rooms or 'cabins'. All cabins have a private balcony or terrace, and have complimentary/limited Wi-Fi. The rooms continue to reflect the nautical theme that runs throughout the resort, and are decorated in tones of white and blue with wood furnishings. The Garden Rooms are located near the pools and restaurants, and the Superior Garden View Rooms are set slightly further apart in the landscaped gardens. The Superior Sea View Rooms offer ocean views.
The resort also has a selection of restaurants and bars catering to a wide variety of tastes and appetites, and 3 pools including a whirlpool. The Kids Club is open to children between 4 and 12, and under careful supervision the children can play sports on the beach, enjoy games in the pool and learn about local marine life.
|Room:||1 x Superior Garden View Cabin|
|Includes:||All meals; non alcoholic and alcoholic beverages (local brands); windsurfing; sailing; volleyball; lawn tennis; table tennis; aqua cycles; and glass bottom pedaloes are included. PLEASE NOTE: Marine Park fees for all water sports are NOT included and are payable locally.|
A visa is required for entry into Kenya when travelling as a tourist. Whilst tourists to Kenya can still obtain a visa upon arrival at the port of entry, it is now also possible to apply online for your visa via the eVisa portal https://www.ecitizen.go.ke/. If you apply online, please ensure that you apply at least 3-4 weeks prior to your travel dates as approval for the eVisa takes up to 7 working days to process. Once the eVisa is issued, it is valid for 3 months. You must print a copy of your visa to present to the Immigration Officer at your point of entry into Kenya. A full list of the nationalities who can be issued with an eVisa can be found here: http://evisa.go.ke/evisa-faqs.html and the following eVisa types are available (please note that visa fees for children under the age of 16 has been removed):
Single Entry - Allows you to enter into Kenya once - current cost USD 51.
Transit - Allows a short stop over (up to 3 days/72 hours) in Kenya - current cost USD 21. This is ideal if you want to leave the secure area of the airport, for example for an overnight stay inbetween flights, or for a period not exceeding 72 hours. No visa is required for a direct transit (not leaving the secure area of the airport, aka staying ‘airside’, within the airport terminal) between 2 flights.
It is also possible to get an East Africa Tourist Visa which is valid for 90 days and allows holders to travel to and within Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda - current cost USD 100 per person - but you can only apply for this at the point of entry or via your local Embassy.
Your passport should also be valid for a minimum period of 6 months from the date of entry into Kenya. Make sure you have 2 blank pages in your passport on arrival.
PLEASE NOTE: Countries can change their entry requirements at any time. Travel Butlers try to ensure that the information displayed here is correct, but the onus remains with the traveller to verify the information with the relevant High Commission or Embassy and ensure that they can comply with current passport and visa requirements.
You are advised to contact your doctor or clinic around 4-8 weeks before your trip to check whether you need any vaccinations and to get their professional medical advice regarding travel to Kenya.
There is a risk of malaria in all areas of Kenya, except Nairobi and the highlands - check with your doctor about suitable antimalarial tablets. Dengue fever can also be transmitted via mosquito bites. Try to avoid mosquito bites wherever possible - wear loose long-sleeved clothing and trousers, and use a repellent on clothing and exposed skin.
Kenya falls into the yellow fever region in Africa. There is only a low potential for exposure to yellow fever in Nairobi, Mombasa, Lamu, Malindi and Shimba Hills National Park, but in the rest of the country there is a higher risk. It is therefore advisable for all travellers aged 9 months and older to obtain a yellow fever vaccination no less than 10 days prior to travel, but depending on the rest of your travel plans and country of origin, it is not compulsory:
Travellers from the UK who are only travelling directly to and from Kenya are not required to produce a vaccination certificate upon their return to the UK.
If you are arriving into Kenya from a country which has a risk of yellow fever transmission, you will be required to provide a certificate of your vaccination upon entry into Kenya. These countries include Angola, Argentina, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Peru, Rwanda, Uganda and Venezula but it is up to the traveller to check the full list via http://www.who.int/ith/2015-ith-annex1.pdf?ua=1
Certain countries including South Africa and Tanzania will deny entry if you are arriving from Kenya without the vaccination. Please ensure you check the full list via http://www.who.int/ith/2015-ith-annex1.pdf?ua=1 to see which countries impose this rule.
If your doctor advises that it is not safe for you to have the vaccination then you should obtain a medical waiver and travel with this instead.
