Check in Procedures, Baggage Allowance, and Other Restrictions

Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Baggage allowance is STRICTLY limited to 15 kg per person, inclusive of hand luggage, in soft bags. The exception is for passengers flying to Zanzibar, Kisumu, Kitale, Diani, Vipingo and Lodwar - in which case the luggage allowance is 20 kg per person, inclusive of hand baggage. The maximum dimensions for any type of bag should not exceed 90 cm x 65 cm x 35 cm.

Excess baggage or freight will be charged at the prevailing rate and only carried subject to space availability. Advance excess baggage can be purchased up to 48 hours before flight departure in batches of 10 kg, 20 kg and 30 kg. Alternatively, there is a complimentary secure store at Nairobi (Wilson) check in counter for storage of excess baggage which you can then pick up when you return.

Most of the flights are operated by aircraft whose luggage compartments have limited volume and are of an irregular shape. It is therefore more difficult for the aircraft crew to stow large rigid suitcases‚ which in an extreme situation might have to be carried on the next available flight.

Check in time is 90 minutes before the flight time for international flights and 60 minutes for domestic flights (departing Wilson, Lamu, Diani, Vipingo and Kisumu) and 30 minutes out of the safari/bush destinations. Safarilink reserves the right to depart up to 20 minutes ahead of the scheduled time if passengers have not checked in at that time. Safarilink reserves the right to allocate seats to standby passengers if ticketed passengers have not checked in by 15 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time. In such circumstances ticketed passengers who subsequently arrive will only be boarded if there are seats still available. PLEASE NOTE: These check in times do not apply for passengers connecting off one Safarilink flight directly onto another Safarilink flight and connections are guaranteed.

Check in counters will CLOSE 45 minutes prior to departure time, after which passengers will not be allowed to check in.

During check in passengers will be required to prove their identity by passport or other identity document containing a photograph.

Safarilink reserves the right to change departure times or carrier when so required for operational, weather or safety reasons.

Arrival and departure times can vary significantly depending on the routing of the aircraft on the day of travel. Not all flights are direct flights, and passengers may be subject to several take off and landing procedures during the course of their journey.

Safarilink is not responsible for any direct or consequential costs resulting from any delays to its services and particularly if a delay results in missing a connection to another carrier – domestic or international. Safarilink only guarantees a connection to another flight operated by Safarilink.

The services to Naivasha, Migori, Tsavo West and all the Lewa, Loisaba and Shaba (Joy's Camp) related services are subject to a minimum of 2 passengers being booked in the High Season (16 December to 31 March; 1 July to 31 October) and 4 in the Low Season (1 April to 30 June; 1 November to 15 December).

Seats on most Safarilink aircraft are of a restricted 'utility' size and larger passengers well above an average weight will find them uncomfortable. In such circumstances it is recommended that for both safety and comfort reasons an extra seat is booked at the child rate.

All Safarilink flights are non-smoking flights. Consumption of alcohol on board Safarilink flights is not allowed. Safarilink reserves the right to offload/deny carriage at any airport/airstrip if in its sole discretion considered a passenger is intoxicated and/or causes disturbance or endanger other passengers.

Expectant mothers upto 35 weeks must provide a medical certificate or letter from attendant gynaecologist clearing her of travel, and will be required to sign an indemnity form.
