Timbavati Game Reserve

Rockfig Safari Lodge Location Map

Set in the heart of Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, adjacent to the famous Kruger National Park, Rockfig Safari Lodge is perfectly situated for a foray into the African wilds.

Morning and afternoon game drives with professional guides and trackers, and a maximum of 4 guests per vehicle ensure incredible wildlife experiences that bring this wild corner of South Africa to life. Timbavati is Big Five country, and as many of the RockFig trackers hail from the area they’re able to put all their local knowledge to work to ensure the best possible viewing opportunities. Of course being out on safari isn’t just about big game - it’s also a chance to appreciate the beauty of Timbavati while traversing it, or while stopping to enjoy a morning coffee or a sundowner in an especially scenic spot.

While game drives let you cover some ground in the comfort of a vehicle, walking safaris put you right on the ground, exploring the area under your own steam. See how the professional guides and trackers read the signs of the bush to anticipate the movements and behaviour of the animals, and learn how every living creature, no matter how small, has its part to play in this intricate and interlinked web of life.

Whatever your preferences these exciting activities and inevitable wildlife sightings are sure to get your blood pumping.

Rockfig Safari Lodge features just 6 chalet-type suites. Each suite features both indoor and outdoor showers, a minibar, bath and private verandahs that are ideal for romantic candlelit dinners. The camp can also be booked on an exclusive-use basis, making it ideal for families or groups of friends.

Spending time in Timbavati is always a nourishing experience, and this is reflected in the layout of the indoor guest areas at RockFig. The open-plan kitchen is a favourite with younger guests, who love to sit at the counter and watch their meals being prepared, with the pull of the fireplace in the lounge being hard to resist. A second long dining table can be found outside, along with a swimming pool overlooking the waterhole.

The boma area is the focal point on starry nights, where the crackles of firewood combine with the yips, cackles and roars of all the wildlife surrounding you.
