Countries Visited: South Africa

Day 1

Collect your luggage upon arrival into Cape Town Airport, then make your way into the Arrivals Hall where your driver will be waiting for you, holding a sign board with your name on it. You will then be transferred to the V&A Waterfront.

Cape Town is one of the world's most beautiful cities - with a magnificent mountain as its centre, miles of sandy beaches, a colourful and moving history, and countless bars and restaurants, Cape Town captures the hearts of visitors. During your stay here, enjoy the major attractions in the city (Table Mountain, Robben Island, township tour, Camps Bay, V&A Waterfront, Kirstenbosch Gardens, numerous museums and galleries) and if time permits, take a day trip down to the Cape Peninsula, stopping on the way back at Boulders Beach, which is home to one of only 2 mainland nesting colonies of African penguins in South Africa.

Day 3

Your hire car will be delivered at 0900.

4 Day Car Rental: Group C: Toyota Corolla Manual or similar (on Super Cover)

Day 5

Allow about 45 minutes to drive to Stellenbosch. Stellenbosch is the oldest town in South Africa after Cape Town, and the oak-lined streets of this academic University town are home to many fine examples of elegant Cape Dutch, Victorian and Georgian architecture. There is a bustling sidewalk cafe scene and a vibrant nightlife, and the many excellent restaurants offer a wide selection of dining options to choose from.

Day 7

Drive back to Cape Town Airport and return your hire car (check in is one hour prior to the flight departure).

British Airways BA6321 (ECONOMY CLASS): Fly from Cape Town Intl (CPT) departing at 1035 to Port Elizabeth Intl (PLZ), arriving at 1145 - Operated by Comair

Make your way to the Bidvest Car Rental office. Complete the necessary paperwork - you will need to present your driving licence, passport and credit card. The keys to your hire car will then be handed over to you.

Allow about 90 minutes to drive to Bayethe Lodge in the Shamwari Game Reserve. During your time at the award-winning Shamwari Game Reserve, you'll set off on 2 thrilling game drives per day, one at sunrise and one at sunset, with your game ranger and fellow guests in an open game viewing vehicle, in search of the Big 5 as well as cheetah, hyena, hippo, zebra and antelope.

Day 9

After you return from your morning game drive, you will have time to enjoy breakfast at the lodge before you need to depart for your drive to Addo (about 90 minutes). The Elephant House is situated near the main entrance to the Addo Elephant National Park. The wide verandas (filled with comfortable sofas) forming a series of courtyards are a defining feature, whilst the decor evokes a colonial feel. Guests can choose to self-drive into the Park from here, or else join the in-house field guide, an elephant expert with many years' experience with the elephants of Addo, on one of his daily game drives through the National Park in an open Land Cruiser.
